found this fascinating "project" this afternoon, & I've just gone thru all their available Bristol pub data.

based on 1851 census, perhaps Emanuel & Harriet lived just up the road from their pub 'Earl Russell' - from the records it was the only pub on that road.

Some of the photos on the website are amazing, but equally surprising to me was that there was a fairly constant turnover of publicans at some of the establishments, often only staying a few years.
