Thank you so much and how complicated it all is. Maurice Michael Dixon left Gwendolyn Dougherty just after my husband was born. He left Gwendolyn with 7 children Michael my husband the youngest was just 1 year old (about 1940 when he left. He just seemed to disappear, cannot find any info on him at all. I shall print all this info out so we can digest it all. Thank u so much. We live in Queensland now but spent all our lives in Victoria. Anderson/Dixon Family treeis our ver small branch. 2017-07-12 - Clifton upon Dunsmore Local History archivist Pete Austin emailed me with 3 sheets of TOWNSEND family trees (archive number TR-0144A thru TR-0144C) and the next day 8 sheets of SALE family trees (archive numbers TR-00138A thru TR-0138G).
However, there is no "provenence" for these family tree sheets.

There is a reference to a John TOWNSEND on sheet TR-0144A which shows a marrage to a Mary SALE with 12 children as issue. Using ancestry.com search against Mary SALE marrying TOWNSEND, a marriage date of 13 JUN 1811 has been found. A birth and death date for Mary SALE shows born 1766 and died 1868.

The "Mary SMITH" I have had as Harriet Mary Townsend Dixon's mother has a death date of 15 FEB 1868.

SUPPOSITION: John Townsend and Mary Sale are Harriet's parents. [2017-07-15]
