==========

Sir John Stanley, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland
Sir John Stanley, K.G. (c. 1350 - 1414), was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland and titular King of Mann, the first of that name. The Stanley family later became the Earls of Derby and remained prominent in English history into modern times.
In 1405 he was granted the tenure of the Isle of Man by Henry IV, which had been confiscated from the rebellious Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland.
He held the following offices:
1386-1388: Lord Deputy of Ireland
1389-1391: Justiciary Ireland
1394: Justice of Chester
1399: Controller of the Royal Household
1399-1401: Lieutenant of Ireland
c.1403: Steward of the Household to the Prince of Wales, later King Henry V
1403: Surveyor of the Forests of Macclesfield, Mare and Mondrem, Cheshire
1403: Governor of the City and County of Cheshire
c.1405: Invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.)
1406: Steward of Macclesfield
1406: Granted the Isle, Castle, peel and Lordship of Mann, by King Henry IV of England
1406: Sovereign Lord of the Isle of Man
1409: Constable of Windsor Castle
1413-1419: Lieutenant of Ireland

The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records that "Thored, son of Gunner" ravaged Westmoreland in 966.[1]

There are speculations that "Thored was Earl of the part of Northumbria which was previously called Deira, maybe Yorkshire, the territory being different from Northumbria which Ælfric "ealdorman" ruled around the same time" [2][3]

Married [[ |HILDA]], daughter of ---.
Thored & his wife had one child: Gunner aka: Gunnar
