Alfred had a stint at being a Policeman in Broken Hill but he didnt like it.
One story I know of him that my father tells is that he was quite a big strong man, when he was 80 he had an ingrown toenail. He decided to use an axe to cut it off. As a result it got infected and he got gangrene. The doctors told him that they would need to amputate his leg, this gave him a heart attack and he died.
