Text: Just hoping for a long shot here My g grandfather was Thomas Mason who married Charlotte Tolley - Theresa's sister. I saw a posting on Rootsweb where the daughter of Edward Comber (Hazel Magann) said she had a letter from Thomas Mason to Edward comber proving that he was the same Thomas that rode with Thunderbolt. anyway, to cut the long story short I haven't been able to get on to Hazel to see if she had found this letter as I would dearly love a copy. I don't suppose that among your tree info you have anything that points in this direction? Hope you don't mind me emailing you but starting to clutch at straws! On your site you have a Thomas Edward Comber (sorry I said Edward) and he married Theresa Tolley. Thomas b. 1884 Armidale and d. 1953 with parents Westby Wilkins and Anna Maria. Theresa's sister married my g grandfather Thomas Mason. I have not been able to locate a birth reg for my Thomas but do have his death and marriage certs. He remains a mystery so far and it's driving me nuts! If I could get my hands on this elusive letter it would certainly help but have had no luck with that yet.
Theresa Tolley and Thomas Edward (Ted) Comber: Thomas was born in 1884 at Dumaresq, via Armidale Reg no: 28842/1884 District: Armidale and died 22.09.1953 in Armidale Hospital Reg no: 23145/1953. He was buried 24.09.1953 in Uralla General Cemetery. His parents were Westby Wilkins Comber1862-1945 and Anna Maria Chilvers 1852-1948 who married 14.12.1881 in Quirindi (unable to locate a registration). Children of Westby Comber and Anna Chilvers: Ellen (Nellie) 1883, Thomas Edward (Ted) 1884, George Westby/Westley 1886-1946, Rosalie (Sis) 1887-1911, James Henry (Jim) 1889-1946, Dorothy (Dolly) 1891, John William (Jack) 1893-1959, Lillian Elizabeth (Duce) 1895-1968.
