Hi again Megan,
thanks for permission to view. Mary Landers was in fact mis-transcribed on LDS website. She was Mary Laundon daughter of Thomas Laundon and Hannah Jacson. I have verified this at the Leics records office & also have downloaded a will in which Hannah is a beneficiary of her brother Jeremiah. I have lost the original due to pc failure but must have the transcript somewhere. I am very behind in my paperwork but I'll get it up to date & let you have copies if you wish to give me your email address. Mine is lha@freeuk.com. I live in Leicestershire. less than 5 miles from where William etc lived.
Hope to hear from you soon

Died at Sea
[refer British War Office record WO12/7272 - Edward Mackay.jpg]

1. Definitely did not die in Ferozpore
2. Definitely did not die in Madras/Chennai
3. Definitely DID die on the boat sailing FROM Madras/Chennai back to United Kingdom.
__________

Research by Pete Lawton at Kew National Archives, from WO12/7272 -
Sgt Edward McKey died at sea on the way home to England.
Possibly died at sea:
- from wounds at Burma
- from Cholera (wife Ann probably died from Cholera in Madras
- from Dysentery

Mary Jane, Sarah & Elizabeth were sent home to the place of Edward's enlistment - which would probably be Aghabog, which is near Cootehill.

Cootehill is where the workhouse was that Elizabeth & Sarah were chosen as Irish Famine Orphans emigration to Australia.

Question is - how did Mary Jane end up in Utah.
