Subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord, also known as Lichtheim's disease,[1][2] refers to degeneration of the posterior and lateral columns of the spinal cord as a result of vitamin B12 deficiency (most common), vitamin E deficiency,[3] and copper deficiency.[4] It is usually associated with pernicious anemia.

From the letter written by Dr Naomi Hardy on 27 August 1973, held in the SAG file 4/8917
First underground engineer of the first undergrond mine at Broken Hill. Died at 89 in Adelaide about 2 years ago [c1971] when he fell off the bus on his way to the races. A very alert person. He had only 1 sone, also a mining engineer, who died about 18months ago in his 50s with a cerebral tumor.

The Battle of Sobraon was fought on 10 February 1846, between the forces of the East India Company and the Sikh Khalsa Army, the army of the Sikh Empire of the Punjab. The Sikhs were completely defeated, making this the decisive battle of the First Anglo-Sikh War.

PAGE TWO: I was promoted when very young into the 6th Dragoons a foot--in 1845 I left--was transferred to the 62nd a foot in Chatham. I saw Mary Jane Mackey who became my wife on---. Went to the East Indies was in the Battle of Aliwah and the Battle of Sobraon. And there (The Battle of Sobraon) I got my boots, pants and drawers riddled with bullets. A ball struck me on my right thigh did not enter the flesh. It was a great miracle. My first son Robert Died in a place called Ferzopore There a few of the army meet in--(Goes to page three)
