Text: On October 6, 1869, their daughter Ellen, age 21, and Job, age 18, sailed from Liverpool with a group of 194 saints with Elder James Needham in charge. This company was the 6th shipload of the season sailing from Liverpool. The name of the steamship they sailed on was “Minnesota.” During the voyage there were rough seas fro 24 hours. The waves of the sea dashed themselves against the chimney of the ship and put out the fire. Several of the passengers thought the ship was going to sink. But no, the mercy of the Lord was with them and led them through the storm. They arrived at New York October 17, 1869.
They traveled by rail from New York. A collision with an express train at Evanstan, Wyoming on October 27th killed two immigrants and injured others. Thankfully Ellen and Job were alright. This party of saints arrived at Ogden, Utah on October 1, 1969.
