The Memorial Safety Administrator of Leicester gave me the information on the Family grave as follow: I found the grave at Gilroes. This was purchased by Herbert Frederick Tilley.

The details are as follows: Section CC grave no.134 Grid count: 28 up 7 north.

It was purchased as a part used grave with only one interment at the time.

I have looked this up and it was a person with the name of Thomas Calllow aged 75 who died in 1905.

According to our records, he was a Stoker by trade. It wasn't unusual for families to purchase part used graves years ago.

The grave is now full with a vase memorial on it. There is still room for cremated remain to be buried in the grave, with permission of the nearest surviving relative to the original grave owner.

The interments are as follows:
-Interment no: 47632-Edith Mary Tilly-buried 25.09.1933-aged 22 years-address 63 Watson Road, Gypsy Lane, Leicester.
-Interment no: 72283-Herbert Frederick Tilley-died 15.03.1947-aged 58 years-adress as above
-Interment no: 85220- Harry Herbert Charles Tilley-died 14.07.1953- aged 44-address: Markfield Sanatorium/90 Moira Street, Leicester
-Interment no: 88928-Mabel Caroline Tilley-died 18.01.1956-aged 68 years-address 63 Watson Road, Leicester.

If you wish to visit the grave, please call my colleague, Billy, on: 07970 233321, Monday-Friday between 10am-2.30pm. He will be able to make you an appointment to show you to the grave. Regards-Jane Rowles"

Good morning Megan Tilley,

Let me introduice myself.

I am Françoise Tilley, second wife of John Tilley (Leicester), son of Stanley George Tilley…and so on if you look at the document I attached and I set for John’s elder son James whose wife is expecting a child for February.

I am the only French in this Family which will perhaps explain some of my mistakes in Enhglish.

I have been working on John’s genealogy for 6 months now after having done mine of my 4 Grand-Parents and I was amased to discover your genealogy.

I was lucky enough to find a gentleman of Leicestershire villages who offered to help me with John’s Mum’s relatives as she passed way in 2004 being the youngest and last remaining of 11 children. I had no idea about John’s Dad’s relatives either and it was all a long quest of names and who remembered what from their youth, but none of John 3 sisters nor his brother could tell me much but it seems that all went to link to your tree when I arrived to Joseph Tilley and Sarah Ellis for whom I had dates and it all appeared so suddenly that I couldn’t believe my eyes.

I have set a Family Tree for the Stanley George children branch of Tilley , it is in fact in the name of johntilley11 http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/18917556/family

If you are interested, I am sure you will follow the link to your tree.

As I am still working it is a bit of a hard work to gather all my search together but I think one day at the time it will come all to place .

Best regards.

Françoise Tilley
