According to "Vision of the Plains, a history of Burren Junction and District" by Judy Field
" .. in 1851(question if correct date) Thomas Gordon Gibbons Dangar came to Cubbaroo (which is about 10 miles east of Burren Junction ) as manager for the Namoi River properties in which William Dangar (his step-father) held interest jointly with John Button.....he went to New England in 1847 and then proceeded to help form a station in the Condamine area, following this with pioneering exploits in the Warrego and lower Barwon districts, prior to moving to the Burren/Pilliga area on the lower Namoi River....
These consisted of several large stations fronting the Namoi, fully stocked with several thousand head of cattle and many hundreds of fine horses. The several stations were all joining comprising 'Bullerawa' (head station), 'Talluba', 'Drildool', 'Pilliga', Milchomi', 'Kellendi', and 'Kellneuie'...
In 1865, TGG Dangar was elected to the Legislative Assembly for Gwydir... and due to his insistence..(in) 1880 the electorate of Namoi was created... he continued as the member for Namoi until his death in 4th July, 1890 ..."
Drildool and Kellendi to my knowledge still exist, they are roughly between Burren and Pilliga.
The reason that I think that Dangar Village was called by that name that WGG Dangar was a prominent politician and any possibly called the area after him because of his work as a local magistrate and politician.
Regards
Gillian
